Civilization IV App Reviews

I am trying the tutorial and it wont work properly. The tutorial wants me to move my scout to a place it cant easily go to (in one turn) so I have to click the Go To button but clicking that button does absolutely nothing. I then clicked the button and told my scout to go somewhere, didnt work, it gave a message saying it cant go there. I tried other areas and none work. So Im stuck in the tutorial. Too bad, this game had promise.

Would be great if it had the map editor. PC version has it I believe, why not Mac? Im no game programer but im sure it could be done…. so just so so for this version.

Its good but Civilization V is WAY better. Civ V is worth the money. In a glitchy game like this one soldiers destroy a city by standing ON it and swing their axes in the air like someone is there. VERY pricy. I would not reccomend it. If you want a good game get Civilization V.

I dont understand it was a great game but now I have a macbookpro 17 inch and it doesnt work at all. This app is a waste of your time if you are going to buy this app and have a 17 inch macbookpro then dont buy it.

I was expecting gameplay along the lines of Age of Empires. Not even close. A whole new set of icons and rules that I really dont want to take the time to learn. I wish i hadnt wasted my money.

Its been a while since Ive played Civ or anything like it so Im playing the tutorial to get my feet wet again and it would be nice if I could save my progress in the tutorial. I also ran into the problem Tparty21 ran into with fullscreen mode until I realized it was the same issue Id run into with another game. When fullscreen just displayed in the lower left corner I exited the game, opened system preferences, clicked on energy saver and unchecked the automatic graphics switching box. This forces my MacBook Pro 17" to use the AMD graphics card instead of the Intel graphics. After that it worked like a dream. Just remember to check the box again after youre done playing or your battery life will suffer.

If it would let me download the game I would give it a lot better rating.

This is the most difficult and unrealistic game Ive ever played. It does nothing to show you how to even play this ridiculously complex game. Its absolutely ridiculous.

I purchased this app about a month ago and still not able to know what this game is all about. There arent much of key strokes and not exciting at all. I would not recommend downloading this app even if it comes for free at some point of time. For me, Its just total waste of money.

I love this game! I was dissapointed at first with all the reviews saying this was laggy or it didnt work on their mac book. I have a 13 inch 2010 macbook pro. Works great!

I cant even get it to download. Seems the company is PC centric and doesnt optimize of Mac users. Too bad, but read the blogs. If/when it works, great game, but too much of a headache.

I have a MacBookAir 11" 2011 and this works great on it. My computer has a 1.6 Ghz processor and this says you have to 1.8 Ghz but mine works fine. I really like it! Thank you!!!

graphics shaking, cant play doesnt work on early 2011 macbook pro 15"

Civilation IV is a great n addictive game. It also run perfectly on my 2011 Macbook Air with few minor load times at the end of games but that is understandable knowing that the civilizations have expanded, so I would expect it to take a little bit longer to load all the information at the end.

Just downloaded, not running properly. Waiting on support from Aspyr. Will post if they fix the problem

Aweful. Map editor doesnt work and Im unable to close the window when playing in full screen so I have to just restart my computer. Waste of money.

It is a little confusing at first but I think the more I play the easier it will get! It works great on Macbook Air 13"

Ive had this game for about 3 months now and havent had any problems at all. This is my first Civilization Ive played so it took a game or two to understand how to play. For those of you new to this as I was, I highly recommend doing the tutorial to introduce you to the gameplay. After you figure it out, watch out as it can be very addicting!! Early 2011 Macbook pro, 2 GHz Intel i7, 16gb ram, Version 10.6.8
